My favorite projects and the ones that I see as the most successful often start simply… with one idea.
Case study No. 1
Felipe emailed me to say he’d be visiting soon and could we line up an appointment. He had one idea, to honor his dad and to feature this silly, endearing photo of his dad being himself. Yes! Of course, but I needed more content , more elements to make the whole piece, a 3/4 sleeve meaningful. So I asked to hear some stories about Felipe and his dad and the rest of the elements for the piece started to take form. I stole the light from Guernica, his dads favorite painting. I pulled line work from Picasso’s “Kitchen” as a nod to his dad’s love of cooking. And then a random little yellow airplane a small piece of a nice memory. This piece was completed over 2 consecutive days and is one of my favorites.
